I do not say that I had not thought of escape, for I have of course done so.

But it seemed to me a thing in the distance; and that, at any rate until the rains were over and the rivers had sunk, it would be useless to attempt it.

I see, now, that it will be safest for me to try without delay.

We must remember that the great thing is for you to find concealment, for the present.
