Washington accompanied the army as far as Bedford.

Hamilton continued with it to Pittsburgh, which was reached in the last days of October and the first of November, after a wearisome march across the mountains in heavy weather.

Arrived in the western counties, the army found no opposition.
Meanwhile, on October 2, the standing committee met again at Parkinson's Ferry, and unanimously adopted resolutions declaring the general submission, and explaining the reasons why signatures to the amnesty had not been general.

Findley and Redick were appointed to take these resolutions to the President, and to urge him to stop the march of the troops.

They met the left wing at Carlisle.
