And the inhabitants of each national territory, or of each detail locality, appear also to run surprisingly uniform in respect of their patriotic spirit. Heredity in any such community of hybrids will, superficially, appear to run somewhat haphazard.
There will, of course, be no traceable difference between social or economic classes, in point of heredity,--as is visibly the case in Christendom.
But variation--of an apparently haphazard description--will be large and ubiquitous among the individuals of such a populace.
Indeed, it is a matter of course and of easy verification that individual variation within such a hybrid stock will greatly exceed the extreme differences that may subsist between the several racial types that have gone to produce the hybrid stock.
Such is the case of the European peoples.
