The pink-shaded lamp seemed to shut them off from the rest of the room.

A waiter poured wine into their glasses.
"I ordered champagne to-night," he remarked.

"You looked so tired when you came in.

Drink a glass at once." She obeyed him, smiling faintly.

She was, as a matter of fact, craving for something of the sort.
"It was thoughtful of you," she declared.
