Nell was in no such haste to hide herself from view.

She cried for supper, and was led to a room on the first floor which overlooked the street.

She threw the window open, and exchanged more greetings and banter with her admirers below.

I flung my hat on the table and sat moodily in a chair.

Food was brought, and Nell, turning at last from her entertainment, flew to partake of it with merry eagerness.
"But doesn't Mistress Quinton sup with us ?" she said.
Mistress Quinton, it seemed, had no appetite for a meal, was shut close in her own chamber, and refused all service.
