None of them knew.

I was forced once again to take my solitary journey into the great unknown.

It was therefore with much satisfaction that, when quite dark, I came upon some wooden huts and saw a number of men round a little fire in a field.

I went up to one of the huts and found in it a very kind and courteous middle-aged lieutenant, who was in charge of a detachment of Indian troops.

When he heard I was looking for the Field Ambulance and going towards Ouderdom, he told me it was much too late to continue my journey that night.
