When I ask my own heart a question, I am afraid to trust it, for it is treacherous, and has often deceived me.

But when I ask Christ, he answers me with promises that strengthen and refresh me, and leave me no room to doubt his power and will to save.

I am in his hands, and would remain there; and I do believe that He will never leave nor forsake me, but will perfect the thing that concerns me.

He loved me, and gave himself for me; and I believe that his gifts and calling are without repentance.

In this hope I live, in this hope I wish to die." I looked around me, as she was speaking, and thought--Surely this is none other than the house of God, and the gate of heaven.
