It is remarkable that so little has been written about Greeley since he died; in fact, since Parton's book appeared, just before the civil war, no one has undertaken a comprehensive life of Greeley.

Greeley's own autobiography, which he called "Recollections of a Busy Life," has been the only later work of note to which readers could go, and that book has not been in general circulation for a great many years.

Mr.Linn's volume, therefore, should have a large public waiting to receive it.
