This message produced no effect in favour of the bill which lay neglected on the table.

Those who moved for it had no other view than that of displaying their moderation: and now they excited their friends to oppose it with all their interest.

The king however was so bent upon the execution of his design, that it was next session revived in another form though with no better success.
