"White men are Spaniards, and Spaniards are white men," Tom groaned, "and that we shall have to die, for the cruelty which the Spaniards have perpetrated, is clear enough.
"Well, Ned, we have had more good fortune than we could have expected.

We might have been killed on the day when we landed, and we have spent six jolly months in wandering together, as hunters, on the plain.
