Dr.Marks has been thirty-five years in Burma, is still hale and hearty, brimful of reminiscences, and is one of the most amusing companions in the world.

I think it was he who converted King Theebaw to Christianity.

His school is a curiosity.

It is an anthropological institute with perhaps the finest collection of human cross-breeds in existence.

It is away out beyond the gaol, in large wooden buildings set in extensive playgrounds.
Here he has 550 students, all but four of whom are Asiatics of fifteen different nationalities--Chinese, Karens, Kachins, Shans, and a varied assortment of Hindoos and Malays, both pure and blended with the native Burmese.
