Taggart saw her coming, too; he must have known it was a woman, but he pulled out his knife, and when she came close enough to us he drove at her with it.
He missed her because I shoved him away. He fell, and, while he was on the ground, the woman--or girl, because she wasn't more than eighteen or nineteen--grabbed me by the arm and jabbered to me in Spanish, of which I'd learned a little. "'They're going to kill all of you!' she said.
'They've been watching you for two days.
They left me to watch you yesterday.
