Mrs.Hanway-Harley at last removed the restraint of her presence, and thereupon Mr.Harley drank twice as much wine to help him bear her absence.

Mr.Gwynn's health was proposed by Mr.Harley, and Mr.Gwynn bowed his thanks.

It should be understood that Mr.Gwynn bowed like a Mandarin from beginning to end of the feast.

There were no speeches; no man can make a speech to an audience of six.

Cicero himself would have been dumb under such meager conditions.
When Mr.Harley drank Mr.Gwynn's health for the tenth time, and attempted, assisted by Senators Gruff and Price, to sing a song in his honor, Senator Hanway adroitly brought the dinner to a close.
