"TWO THOUSAND DOLLARS!" repeated Stacy.

"When did YOU have two thousand dollars ?" "When I first left Sacramento--three years ago," said Barker, unstrapping the valise.
"How long did you have it ?" said Demorest incredulously.
"At least two days, I think," returned Barker quietly.
