The farce of Allan's illness was kept up.

For two days the pupils were deprived of their lessons through the indisposition of their master.

"My brother is very ill; he may not recover.

Oh, what a fatal day it was when he first saw you, Miss Arleigh!" Now, Marion had often rehearsed this interview.
