21, 1659-60.] A new Council of State was, of course, appointed at once.

It was to consist, as before, of _twenty-one_ Parliamentaries and _ten_ non-Parliamentaries, and to hold office from Jan.

1, 1659-60 to April 1, 1660.

The following is the list, the order in each section being that of preference as shown by the numbers of votes obtained in the ballot, and the asterisk again denoting a Regicide.
