Anderson appeared. "I am off to Banff, Lady Merton," he said from the threshold.
"I think I have all your commissions.
Is your letter ready ?" She sealed it and gave it to him.
Then she looked up at him; and for the first time he saw her tremulous and shaken; not for her brother, but for himself. "I don't know how to thank you."
