It gives a picturesque account of the Hawaiian people before they came into relations with foreigners.
It should be remembered by the reader that Mr.Remy is a Frenchman, and that his relations with the Roman Catholic missionaries somewhat colored his views of the labors of the American missionaries on the Islands. The "contributions" in this translation of Mr.Brigham were privately printed by him some years ago, and the following note by him explains their origin.
