At this time they are tame and fearless, and will stand and look at you with surprise and impatience.

They seldom run away.

On one occasion he came upon a doe and two fawns not far from the brink or ridge of Hell Hole.

He was close upon them before he was aware, but stopped suddenly.

The doe saw him, but instead of turning to flee she stood and impatiently stamped her foot several times.
