Glinda saw them, too, and held the boat close to the Dome while the friends exchanged greetings in pantomime.

Their voices, unfortunately, could not be heard through the Dome and the water and the side of the boat.

The Wizard tried to make the girls understand, through signs, that he and Glinda had come to their rescue, and Ozma and Dorothy understood this from the very fact that the Sorceress and the Wizard had appeared.
