The next day we took Bevins to Bogg's Ranch, on Picket Wire Creek, where he was to await trial.

But he never was tried.

He made his escape, as I had expected he would do.
In 1872 I heard that he was at his old tricks on Laramie Plains.

A little later he sent word to me that if he ever met me he would kill me on sight.

Shortly thereafter he was arrested and convicted for robbery, but made his escape from Laramie City prison.
