"You have been born and brought up in the same condition as myself. Like me, you appear to have triumphed over the absence of scholastic instruction, and, like me too, you love your country.
You reproach me, sir, with the silence which I have for some time preserved.
At the end of this year I intend to publish my last volume; I will then take my leave of the public.
I am now fifty-two years old.
I am tired of the world.
