He stopped and spoke to the porter, and found it was Mr.Lockworth's.

He told the porter that he had letters to Mr.Lockworth, and was intending to call upon him.

The porter was very communicative, and told him a good deal.

Anderson asked if there were not a pretty daughter.

The porter asked him to walk around.
As he entered the gate he reached a dollar to the man, and, being much pleased, when he came out he reached the porter another dollar.
"Anderson went back to the hotel, told his brother about it, and they set out together to deliver the letter.
