Their mill is known as "Th' Yard Factory." Hereabouts the people generally are not so much reduced as in some parts of the town, because they have had more employment, until lately, than has been common elsewhere.

But our business lay with those distressed families who were in receipt of relief, and, even here, they were very easy to find.

The first house we called at was inhabited by a family of five--man and wife and three children.

The man was working on the moor at one shilling a-day.

The wife was unwell, but she was moving about the house.
