By the way, I think it would be as well for you to get a servant here, and that before you go up.

Mr.Bastow's servant was an old woman, and in a case like this I always think it is better not to take one's predecessor's servant.

She generally resents any change, and is always quoting how her last master had things.

I mention this before you go, because she is sure to ask to stay on, and it is much easier to say that you are bringing a servant with you than to have to tell her she is too old or too fat.
