He had always been received by the people of this island in the most hospitable manner, and they were justly entitled to every thing which it was in his power to grant.
They expressed the deepest concern at his departure, and were continually importuning him to return.
Oree the chief, and his wife and daughter, but especially the two latter, scarcely ever ceased weeping.
Their grief was so excessive, that it might, perhaps, be doubted whether it was entirely sincere and unaffected; but our commander was of opinion that it was real.
At length, when he was ready to sail, they took a most affectionate leave.
