A flower-rain showered itself over them and the carriage.

The Kammerjunker, Jakoba, and the Mamsell, had taken a shorter way, and now waved an adieu to the travellers, whilst at the same time they scattered hyacinths and stocks over them.

With a practiced hand Jakoba threw, as a mark of friendship, a great pink straight into Otto's face.

"Farewell, farewell!" sounded from both sides, and, accompanied by the sound of the evening-bell from the near village, for it was sunset, the carriage rolled away..
