She's going to marry that d---- Frenchman.

What an unmitigated ass that cousin of yours must be! I can't say I admire her taste; but nevertheless she is welcome for me.

It would, however, be most scandalous if we were to allow him to get possession of her money.

He would, as a matter of course, make ducks and drakes of it in no time.
Speculate probably in some Russian railway, or Polish mine, and lose every shilling.

You will of course see it tied up tight in the hands of the trustees, and merely pay him, or if possible her, the interest of it.
