In a longer and more eloquent speech he seconded the nomination.

Hadley possessed the gift of eloquence.

As he proceeded in his remarks he convinced many, until now wavering, that Bert Dodge was the most available man for the great office.

When Hadley sat down it was the general opinion that Dodge was about as good as elected.
There was a long pause.

Then: "Mr.Chairman!" "Mr.Anstey." The Virginian nodded to the chair, then looked slowly around at all the faces.
