"'You blackguard!' I shouted, beside myself with rage.

'You have destroyed it! You have dishonoured me forever! Where are the jewels which you have stolen ?' "'Stolen!' he cried.
"'Yes, thief!' I roared, shaking him by the shoulder.
"'There are none missing.
