She was a very remarkable looking person.

Tall and upright, at least six feet high, with swarthy complexion, black eyes, and coal-black hair, looped up loosely in a knot behind.

She must have been very beautiful as a young girl, but was now too fierce and hawkish looking, though you would still call her handsome.

She was a full-blooded gipsy, of one of the best families, which, however, she totally denied.
