The people at first heard of the arrest of the deputies with indifference.

A feeling of curiosity soon drew them into the streets; enthusiasm followed, and cries of 'Vive la Republique', which had not been heard for a long time, now resounded in every street.

The neighbouring departments have expressed their discontent.

That of Allier has, it is said, protested; but it will cut a fine figure.

Eight thousand men are marching to the environs of Paris.
