That particular thunder clap was louder and more terrifying than those preceding it.

However, there was no use in alarming her.
"I guess not," I answered.

"He'll be here soon, I am sure." But he did not come.

The storm seemed to be passing over.

The flashes were just as frequent, but there was a longer interval between each flash and its thunder peal.
